Pregnancy and birth has interested me since I was a young child. As I grew so did my interest! When I was 17 I attended a friends birth and from that moment on I knew I wanted to pursue midwifery, I then went through a 9 month midwifery intensive course. After which I worked in a small village clinic in Africa for 3 months doing prenatal care and attending births.
I came back to the states in 2015 and began my apprenticeship working alongside 5 midwives gaining experience both in a birth center setting as well as home birth. After attending over 100 births during my training, I then sat for my NARM exam to became a CPM (Certified Practicing Midwife) as well as completing the requirements to become a LDM (licensed midwife) in Oregon. I am passionate about providing safe, personalized and compassionate care in my community! |

I knew very early on that the medical field is where I fit. I began as a Certified Medical Assistant in a little family practice in my home town. In college, the chapters in my textbooks on human reproduction, women's health, and fetal development drew me in. I needed to know more, and knew it was something I could spend a life time learning about, as well as a skill I wanted to share with the world - here and abroad. After gaining some experience, seeing the need for personalized care, compassion, and a still growing desire to serve mamas and babies, I committed to pursue midwifery. I studied in a 6 month intensive program in Alaska and returned home to accept a clinical apprenticeship at a birth center where I got the pleasure of working with 4 different licensed midwives; spanning a little over two years and getting to witness approximately 70 births by the time I became nationally certified and then licensed in the state of Oregon to practice. It is a true honor every single time I get to be a part of watching birth transform women to mothers, couples to families, children to siblings, and taking part in moments that the rest of world can only dream about. I do not hold my position or your choosing us lightly. |
